Middle School Sport Facilities: Policies, Physical Activity, and Cost Effectiveness
The objective of this study was to examine the impact of Wake County Public School System, North Carolina public middle school policies for facility use and access on the following outcomes: number and type of physical activity programs and activities that are offered or available at middle school sport facilities, amount and type of physical activity that occurs at each middle school sport facilities, and the cost of middle school sport facility construction and maintenance. The results of this study assessed whether middle school policies that include community partnerships and joint-use agreements yield a greater potential for increasing youth physical activity levels.
