International Symposium

Reversing the obesity epidemic requires sharing of solutions and lesson learned from around the globe. With a focus on Latin America, Active Living Research held a special International Symposium to bring experts together to share lessons on international obesity prevention research. Sessions examined national prevention policy and program efforts in the Americas and explored what can be learned to inform US policy; complexities in study design, implementation, and data collection; and challenges of designing, implementing, and culturally adapting research studies for urban Latino populations in four countries. Speakers represented the US, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. The Symposium was sponsored by RWJF.
