The 2019 Active Living Conference was held February 17-20, 2019 at the Francis Marion Hotel in the heart of historic Charleston in South Carolina, USA.

The conference brings together active living researchers and champions from over 30 disciplines to advance knowledge and action around active communities. The event is the premier venue for policy-relevant research and cross-sector exchange between scientists, practitioners and policy makers on how to create and sustain active living environments.
Theme
The 2019 conference theme addressed the 'Intended and Unintended Outcomes of Building Active and Healthy Communities'. Examples of such outcomes included challenges, solutions, and lessons learned related to gentrification, pollution mitigation, shifting rural landscapes, economic development, sun exposure, injury prevention, health equity, social inclusion, and community engagement and empowerment.
Call for Abstracts
Abstracts were invited for presentations and workshops on the conference theme as well as other advancements in research and practice on active living. For submission guidelines visit the Call for Abstracts page.
