A problem in many fields is that research-based innovations are not utilized by policy-makers and practitioners. The diffusion of innovations model suggests strategies for closing this research/practice gap. Certain strategies for research utilization have been tried, and evaluated. Here we review the lessons learned and apply them to the case of active living.
