Evidence suggests that transportation investments and land development decisions impact physical activity gained through walking, and the likelihood of being obese. However, to date, little analysis has been performed to assess how specific aspects of the built environment uniquely impact youth. SMARTRAQ data collected between 2001 and 2002 in the Atlanta region provide self reported travel and activity data for approximately 3,400 youth between 5 and 18 years of age. This project will assess how specific aspects of the built environment impact self reported physical activity patterns for youth.
