In 2012, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) will begin marketing a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP) to all U.S. schools.  As part of the CSPAP, NASPE will create a professional development program that certifies teachers as a CSPAP Director of Physical Activity - a school-based physical activity champion that has the ability to advocate CSPAP policy development and spearhead implementation. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the impact of the Director of Physical Activity certification professional development program on changes in CSPAP policies, teacher efficacy related to becoming a certified Director of Physical Activity, and physical activity behaviors of underserved 9-14 year-old children in Louisiana.  Data will be collected using surveys and accelerometers.  The project aims to inform policy decisions related to CSPAP implementation and its implementation for Director of Physical Activity training and student physical activity levels.
