Dr. Lynn Silver, Assistant Commissioner of New York City's Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control, considers ALR director Jim Sallis an honorary co-author of the NYC Active Design Guidelines. She said, "The underlying collaboration was greatly inspired by Active Living Research and (Jim's) work." These guidelines from the New York City Department of Design and Construction provide architects and urban designers with a manual of strategies for creating healthier buildings, streets, and urban spaces, based on the latest academic research and best practices.
