Environmental Perception, Evaluation, Desirability for Physical Activity Among African-American Families of Different Incomes
The purpose of this project is to understand how people’s perceptions of environmental factors are associated with the likelihood of physical activity and what objective attributes of places make places feel safe, convenient and attractive. The study will use a sorting task to uncover salient dimensions of perception most relevant to likelihood of physical activity and results will be applied in Virtual Reality Environments and the real world to find the objective attributes that underlie the evaluative perceptions and ratings of activity-friendly places. The population under study consists of African-American children and their families from low-and moderate-income status.
