Measuring, Analyzing, and Examining Physical Activity in Family Day Care Homes
This project provided supplemental funds for a study originally funded by the Healthy Eating Research (HER) program in their Round 2 funding that examined how the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child and Adult Care Food Program affects food expenditures by family home child care providers. This HER supplemental grant added to the HER Round 2 grant by including assessments of physical activity environments and levels of preschool children in family child care settings in Seattle, WA. Physical activity levels were assessed with environmental assessment tools and objective measures of physical activity (accelerometers). The study aimed to determine what factors might influence children’s physical activity in family day care settings.
