An Analysis of Macro Level Policies Relevant to the Joint and Shared Use of Municipal Parks for Organized Sport and Recreation Opportunities
The purpose of this project was complement another ALR-funded study of school policies relevant to joint use agreements. The project conducted a national survey of park administrators to determine the nature and frequency of the shared use of municipal park facilities across the U.S., assess the extent to which the shared use of park facilities benefit underserved populations, and determine municipal park administrator's knowledge of legal agreements relevant to the shared use of park facilities and barriers to using them. A national, online survey system was developed to survey park administrators. The National Policy & Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity (NPLAN) partnered to assist in the development of the survey instrument and help with dissemination of policy relevant results.
