2013 Childhood Obesity Conference

The California Department of Public Health, California Department of Education, the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Center for Weight and Health, The California Endowment, and Kaiser Permanente are pleased to announce the 2013 Childhood Obesity Conference scheduled for June 18-20, 2013 at the Long Beach Convention Center, California. Now in its 7th year, the biennial Childhood Obesity Conference is the nation's largest, most influential collaboration of professionals dedicated to combating pediatric obesity. Nearly 2,000 attendees from across the country are expected to attend in 2013. The Conference will showcase the latest research, evidence-based best practices, and policy/environmental change strategies.

The 7th Biennial Childhood Obesity Conference will build on the experiences of the past six conferences with presentations through eight themed tracks:

  1. Basic and Applied Research
  2. Built Environment, Land Use and Transportation
  3. Community Nutrition and Physical Activity
  4. Early Childhood (0-5) Education
  5. Food Systems
  6. Marketing to Kids
  7. Healthcare Approaches to Prevention
  8. School, After School and Summer Programs and Policies

While the Conference has been held every other year since 2001, this is the first-ever Call for Session Proposals to help develop the conference content. With 40 workshops and ample opportunity for pre-conference sessions, the Conference anticipates a rich blend of accepted proposals and designed sessions to complete the agenda. Proposals will be selected on a competitive basis by the Planning and Executive Committees. Deadline to submit a proposal is July 25, 2012.
