The lack of consistent scoring approaches to "micro-scale" environmental assessments presents a challenge for translating research findings into effective active living policies. Two separate teams of researchers developed methodologies for creating micro-scale scoring systems for the Irvine Minnesota Inventory (IMI) and the Microscale Audit for Pedestrian Streetscapes (MAPS). This 3-hour workshop provided an overview of and brief training on IMI and MAPS.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will become acquainted with coding portions of the IMI and MAPS tools.
- Participants will practice scoring portions of these tools using SPSS syntax.
- Participants will understand the differences in scoring mechanisms and the conceptual models that guided them.
