The 2014 Conference on the Value of Play: Collaboration and Creativity, scheduled for February 16-19 will take place at the Madren Center in Clemson, South Carolina. Now in its fourth year, the conference is a gathering of individuals from diverse fields including medicine, landscape architecture, park and recreation, education, health science, business, and more. Over 300 participants from across the country and world attended the 2013 conference, and an equally large and diverse group is expected for 2014.
Collaboration and creativity are two key skills in the 21st century and they are naturally developed and encouraged through play. Further, our ability to create partnerships across schools, businesses, parks, medical centers, and communities will increase opportunities for play throughout life and will promote happier, healthier living. In order to address these important areas, the 2014 conference will feature six tracks:
- Education
- Programming
- Park and Recreation
- Health
- Business/Corporate
- Children’s Museums.
With an anticipated 70+ educational sessions, there will be ample opportunity for learning and playing. Deadline to submit a proposal is September 18 and proposals will be selected on a peer-reviewed basis. Registration for the conference is also open and available: usplaycoalition.clemson.edu.
