Physical Activity Environments in Elementary Schools, Sociodemographic Disparities, and BMI Gain
This project provided supplemental funds for a RWJF study originally funded by the Healthy Eating Research (HER) program in their Round 1 funding that analyzed Body Mass Index (BMI) change based on school food policies between kindergarten and 5th grade in a national sample. This ALR supplemental grant added to the HER Round 1 grant by including school district physical activity policies. Data on school physical activity caome from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study (ECLS-K) and included inspector assessments of facilities and teacher/administrator responses about physical education and recess. Surveys on school physical activity policy and facility condition were also linked with ECLS data.
